Chapter Awards Program

The Lawton SHRM Chapter Award Presentations is held every year during the March meeting. The awards below are given for the previous years performance (January through December).

Chapter Leadership Award

Recognizes the significant contribution of chapter officers, board members, and chairpersons.

  • Service as a chapter officer, board member or committee chairperson

  • Nominated by a chapter member

  • Can only be awarded once per person

  • Decided by ballot of chapter members at January meeting for the service in previous year

  • Plaque or similar memento valued @ not more than $75

  • It will be easy to recognize this person each year

  • Limiting it to a one-time award helps pass it around

  • Limiting it to smaller groups of people encourages accepting positions in the organization

Life Long Learning Award

Recognizes the HR profession who has taken the initiative to continue the learning process and achieve the highest level of certification in our profession.

  • Member of national chapter SHRM for year award given

  • Service to the chapter as a chapter officer, board member, or committee member

  • Highest successful sore on SPHR examination during the considered year

  • In case of tie scores the award is split

  • Gift certificate equal to the cost of SPHR testing @ not more than $310

  • Incentive for our more senior members to get and stay active

  • By using test scores as criteria it gets us out of the subjective evaluation of people and what they contribute

  • Requiring national membership also helps the chapter overall

Professional Award

Encourages those working in the HR field to improve himself or herself and take an active role in the chapter.

  • Member of National chapter SHRM

  • Highest successful score on PHR examination during the considered year

  • Service to the chapter as a chapter officer, board member, or committee member

  • In case of tie scores the award is split

  • Gift certificate equal to the cost of PHR testing @ not more than $170

  • Incentive for members to get and stay active

  • By using test scores as criteria it gets us out of the subjective evaluation of people and what they contribute

  • Requiring national membership also helps the chapter overall

New Graduate Award

Encourages the new HR professional to improve himself or herself and take an active role in the chapter.

  • Member of Great Plains Chapter SHRM

  • Graduating senior or graduate student in business at Cameron University

  • Highest successful score on PHR examination during the considered year

  • Gift certificate equal to the cost of PHR testing @ not more than $100

  • Outward looking award that promotes new blood for the Chapter

Chapter Service Award

Recognizes those individuals who have stepped up and devoted time and resources to the chapter through service.

  • Service as a officer, board member, committee member for 1 year

  • Estimated 45 pins @ not more than $6 each = $270

  • Everyone likes recognition

  • These pins are available from SHRM for a reasonable cost

Membership Recognition

Recognoizes everyones contribution to the chapter and the profession.

 

  • Recognition at 3yrs, 6 yrs and 9yrs

  • Some sort of Pin or memento @ not more than $6 per person

  • Aprox $432 to be spent 3 years from now

  • Everyone likes recognition
