of the Great Plains Chapter Board Meeting
June 3, 2009

for Executive Committee: Jim Russell, Sherry
Anderson, Pat Beck, Taylor Farmer, Jim Foster, Cynthia
Housman and Patricia Sapol
Russell
called the meeting to order at 12:05 pm.

Business:

Business:
1.
Women’s Conference “employment track”
This
conference is to be held Oct. 22, 2009.
Beck stated she has 4 volunteers from SHRM to help
out. The
target audience for this conference is the unemployed and
underemployed.
Assurant
will have a booth with job opening information.
Russell
suggested sponsoring a clothes closet offering donated
items of professional clothing.
Board members agreed and the Multi-Purpose Center
and Assurant will be designated as drop-off points for
those who wish to donate.
It was also agreed that surrounding SHRM chapters
will be notified and asked if they would like to donate.
Any left-over items will be donated to Goodwill.
Beck stated that Goodwill has a program that they
will give vouchers to the group donating.
The vouchers can then be given to those in need.
2.
Champions of Freedom
This
program will be sponsored by the State Chamber of Commerce
on June 18. Beck
stated she will check on whether this program would be
eligible for CEU’s.
3.
PO Box
Russell
stated that it would be a good idea for the chapter to
have a P O Box.
Motion
by Beck, Second by Farmer to approve.

4.
Lunch Sponsorships
Russell
stated that he and Housman had discussed this.
Housman stated that the business units within
Assurant would be willing to provide lunches for the
monthly meetings. It
was agreed that the lunch sponsor would be allowed to give
a 5 minute presentation about their business.
Motion by Foster, Second by Anderson to approve.

5.
June Meeting
The
topic for the June meeting is Insure Oklahoma.
Discussion was held on whether this meeting should
be offered to the public or limited to SHRM members only.
Consensus of the board was to limit this meeting to
members only but encourage them to bring a friend.
A notice will be sent asking members to RSVP so
that an accurate count for lunch can be obtained.
6.
December Meeting
Russell
stated that having the Christmas meeting at a restaurant
is being considered.
Sapol stated that she will send out notices asking
for input and ideas.
7.
State conference attendance
Russell
stated that 12 or 13 from our chapter attended the
conference, however that number may higher.
Reports
Treasurer’s
Report: Foster
presented the treasurer’s report.
Motion by Farmer, second by Beck to accept the
treasurer’s report. AYE: Unanimous
NAY: None
Membership
report: Anderson stated she had deleted those members who had not paid.
Total membership is now 67 and 33 of those are
national members.
